"Yomud Turkmen Saddle Pad. Circa 1880. 160 X 70 Cm"
A very beautiful Turkmen Yomud saddle rug. Woven and knotted wool on wool using traditional methods. The quality of the hand-spun wool is remarkable, very soft. It is this same quality of wool that gives the natural dyes their depth and brilliance. The colors are dense and saturated. The pile is rather short, less than 1 cm. This type of object is quite rare, and sometimes prices skyrocket because these pieces are both prized and collected. At the asking price of €580, I think it's safe to say it's a bargain!
