Superb complete set of Caucasian Maffrash panels, mid-19th century. Two large panels: 106 x 45 cm. Two small panels: 56 x 42 cm. This set truly stands out from the usual collection of Maffrash fragments. The weaving is exquisite, of exceptional fineness and absolute precision. The weaver's dexterity is instantly apparent. It is a masterpiece! What also strikes the eye at first glance is the choice and harmony of natural, plant-based hues. An incredible depth. These colors are dense and saturated: deep blue like a Caucasian night, intense brick red, sandy golden yellow, green with bluish reflections... The motifs are so precise that they seem sculpted from the material itself... In perfect condition, only one of the two large panels has a flaw. See photo.
