Syrian Box, Inlaid With Mother-of-pearl, Ebony And Various Precious Woods. Late 19th Century.
It is rectangular in shape with a slightly domed lid, the interior of which also features an inlaid motif of a central sun. The box is entirely inlaid with geometric patterns, rosettes, and suns, creating a contrasting effect of color due to the use of mother-of-pearl and ebony. It is fitted with a lock and key. A beautiful Orientalist object from late 19th-century Syria, in very good condition.
