"Ewer In The Shape Of A Helmet Bearing The Coat Of Arms Of Rouen - 18th Century"
Rouen Helmet-Shaped Ewer - 18th Century. Exceptional high-fired earthenware ewer, predominantly blue, on a footed base. Crozier-shaped handle. Molded body with a gadrooned base. See detail photos to appreciate the quality of the decoration. Coat of arms to be identified. Piece signed AR on the base. Made from a rough clay, the glaze reveals numerous bubbles. This object has suffered the ravages of time. Glazed from top to bottom to conceal imperfections following restoration (cracks, breaks, missing pieces, chips). The handle has been reattached at its curved end. Significant crazing remains visible. Only two chips at the base of the foot remain. This object remains highly decorative and iconic for the discerning collector who might not want to spend €2,000 on a piece in good condition! Do not hesitate to ask me for additional photos. Viewing at my home by appointment. Height 27 cm
