Cristina Sicardi, a promising Argentine painter born in 1939, has a brief biography: Born in Buenos Aires in 1939, she graduated from the Prilidiano Pueyrredón National School of Fine Arts (class of 1977) and is a tenured visual arts teacher. She teaches at the Jesús María School. In 1978, she co-founded the Tres Equis group with other artists. In 1985, she began working with neon. She served on the OAS Art Commission in Buenos Aires. In 1988, she exhibited her first light installations, and in 1991, she collaborated on a work combining neon and lasers. She has held solo exhibitions at Deutsche Bank, the Van Riel Gallery, the Maison de l'Amérique latine in Brussels, the Casa de la Cultura, the Bernardes in Girona, the Galerie am Markt in Cologne, the Galería Mun in Buenos Aires, and the Collège Saint Matthias in Mettlach Tunsdorf. In 1988, she received the Banelco Painting Prize and the Que Hacemos Magazine (1988 class) at the Centoira Gallery in Buenos Aires; in 1989, the Banco Galicia First Prize for Painting, a Bronze Plaque at the National Salon in Mar del Plata, and the First Prize for Painting at the Libertador Gallery and the San Lorenzo Museum of Fine Arts; in 1991, the Fundación de la Visión Second Prize for Painting at the Museum of Modern Art in Buenos Aires and an Honorable Mention for Sculpture at the 130th National Salon. “A geometric art that unfolds across different media with the same objective: the tension of forms and colors created by different light sources.
