This interior scene, probably depicting the artist herself with her two children, can be dated to around 1910. Cecile HERTZ-EYROLLES, who married in 1906, primarily painted interior scenes during this period, depicting her life as a young mother. The paintings from this happy time are imbued with tenderness and painted in a soft chromatic range dominated by grays and pinks. Here she uses the technique of her master Eugène CARRIERE, which consists of blurring the outlines to create an intimate atmosphere.
