Tyrolean painted wardrobe dated 1810, typical of the Alpine production of the Austro-Tyrolean area of the early 19th century, conceived as a domestic storage piece yet characterized by a strong decorative value.
From a constructional point of view, the wardrobe is entirely made of solid conifer wood (fir), an essence widely used in Tyrolean tradition for its availability and stability. The structure is solid and compact, with a rectangular body, solid sides and a slightly projecting moulded base, which gives stability and vertical emphasis to the piece. The upper cornice is shaped and composed of multiple tiers.
The front is organized with a single full-height door, side-hinged with original wrought-iron hardware, complete with key and shaped escutcheon. The door is embellished with two framed octagonal panels, decorated with stylized floral motifs: polychrome flower bouquets rendered in a warm palette of ochre, orange, red and brown, set against a light background. The painted decoration is executed in tempera with a casein base and framed by coloured fillets that enhance its geometric articulation.
The chamfered edges also feature painted vertical reserves with similar floral motifs, while a continuous decorative band runs beneath the upper cornice, enriched with repeated floral and phytomorphic elements, contributing to the overall compositional unity. The dominant petrol green colour is typical of Tyrolean furniture of the period and serves as a background for the more vivid decorations.
Internally, the wardrobe shows a simple and functional workmanship: the interior is unpainted, with a fixed lower shelf and a small pull-out drawer at the base.
Of particular interest is the lock with its original and fully functional key.
