Large Sèvres Porcelain Bowl – 19th Century, Louis XV Style Gilt Bronze Mount

An exceptional large decorative Sèvres porcelain bowl, dating from the 19th century, richly ornamented and mounted in a sumptuous, finely chased gilt-bronze mount in the Louis XV style. The body, with its undulating shape, is decorated on one side with a polychrome, hand-painted, gallant pastoral scene depicting lively figures around a well in a rural landscape, in the 18th-century style. The reverse is adorned with a large bouquet of polychrome flowers in bright and delicate colors against a white background. The whole is framed by gilt friezes and scrolls against an elegant sky-blue ground characteristic of Sèvres production. The porcelain is set in a high-quality gilt-bronze mount, richly openwork and chased with rocaille motifs, foliage, and scrolls. The asymmetrical handles with foliate decoration, the shaped foot, and the tripod base with scrolled feet lend the piece great elegance and perfect stability.
