Pair Of Small Antique Wall Consoles In Porcelain

Pair of small porcelain wall consoles, finely modelled and entirely hand‑painted.Each piece features a different gallant scene: couples in 18th‑century attire, depicted in conversation against a wooded landscape background.

The quality of the modelling and painting reflects an atelier well versed in the decorative codes of European porcelain of the second half of the 18th century, although the most probable dating for these two small consoles is the late 19th century.

They are likely the production of a Central European workshop, most probably Dresden, whose factory mark is faintly visible on one of the consoles. The style — rocaille decoration with scrolls, shells and gilded rococo accents — together with the colour palette and the treatment of the gallant scenes, corresponds to the production of this region.

To note: old restorations on both consoles, visible only on the back, i.e. on the part intended to be fixed to the wall. These are old, stable and discreet repairs that do not affect the overall aesthetic reading.
