Blown Glass Bottle – Murano, Attributed To Salviati, 1960s–1970s
Glass bottle made using the technique of canes blown by mouth, produced in the 1960s–1970s and attributed to the prestigious Salviati house.
The piece is distinguished by its soft, rounded and slightly flattened shape, which gives it a harmonious and contemporary elegance. It features alternating stripes of blue and copper; the copper colour is due to inclusions of aventurine glass, which create subtle golden and shimmering reflections.
Technical digression : The technique of mouth-blown canes consists of arranging coloured glass rods, called canne, on a heated plate, then fusing them before wrapping them around the molten glass gather on the blowpipe during the blowing process. This method, mastered by the Murano glassmakers, allows the creation of linear or geometric patterns of great precision, while preserving the fluidity and transparency of the glass. The addition of aventurine – a glass sprinkled with metallic particles – enhances the decorative effect by providing luminous and shimmering highlights.
