Pair Of Embroidered Chinese Shoes – Early 20th Century
Pair of women’s shoes in black silk, richly decorated with a floral motif embroidered in multicoloured silk threads.
The central opening and the traditionally stitched sole are characteristic of Chinese textile production from the early 20th century.
The cotton inner lining shows halos and traces of oxidation. The heel seam on one of the two shoes is partially unstitched. The embroidery is nonetheless very well preserved and has retained the original vibrancy of its colours.
