Dragoon or Horse Grenadier officer's saber (see officer of the Horse Grenadiers of the Imperial Guard). Cast brass hilt, five-branch guard forming a shell with an openwork palmette and a raised, gleaming bomb. Octagonal pommel with a short tail. Wooden grip covered in brown waxed calfskin with copper wire inlay. Double-fullered blade with a flat back, engraved on its lower third with floral motifs and military trophies, Solingen blade (with a flower motif). Black waxed leather scabbard with a repair at the bottom. Three brass mounts. Chape decorated with simple lines, with a suspension ring also decorated with lines, a stud, a brass olive, and steel rings. Brass chape with simple lines, steel chape. Good overall condition.
