Henri Riviere (1864-1951) Lithograph On China Paper, Numbered, Signed In Pencil "le Trocadero"
Lithograph on China paper, numbered 17 and signed in pencil by Rivière. Plate dimensions: 90 x 64 cm; image dimensions: 52 x 82 cm (lithograph itself) and 105 x 80 cm with its museum-quality glass frame (anti-reflective, UV-protective). One of the eight Parisian Landscapes, a series published by Verneau in 1900, which enjoyed great success at the time. The plate depicts the Palais du Trocadéro, built for the 1878 Universal Exhibition and demolished in 1936. Our lithograph is one of 25 rare copies of the deluxe edition on China paper (compared to 1,000 copies of the edition on vellum), countersigned and numbered by Rivière in the margin. China paper, due to its superior affinity with pigments, allows for better rendering and preservation of color contrasts, as is clearly evident in our remarkably fresh example.
