"Black Forest Bear Inkwell With Its Gun-pen Rack, 19th Century "

This rather original and rare "Black Forest" inkwell features two carved wooden bears with glass eyes. First, there's a contorted bear with its body turned backwards, standing on a draped base—perhaps a circus figure. It holds a rack against which rest four quill-guns. Then, the glass inkwell is closed by a bear's head stopper chained to the standing bear. This entire piece is mounted on a profiled walnut base.
