Steel Chatelaine For Sewing End Of 19th Century
Worn on the belt, the chatelaine was a very useful hook, a bit like a handbag before its time in a way since it was hung with chains of multiple accessories such as objects for sewing, for the toilet, tools and of course keys. Although this accessory dates back to the Roman era, it was really in the 19th century that the chatelaine experienced its most glorious era of which you will find here a beautiful example in steel for sewing to which is hung pincushions, needle holders, mechanical pencils and thimble holders.
