"Empire-style Hussar Or Horseman Belt"
Red and green sash belt. Made of red cord with green loops mounted on wood or sturdy cardboard.
Green wool pompom and cord (very dirty), red olive-shaped end.
Dimensions:
cord length 2.10m,
olive-shaped end length 20cm,
pompom end length 65cm.
Almost 3m in total.
It is quite rare to find this type of item, and given the colors, it is difficult to determine which regiment it may have belonged to. The French light cavalry was not the only unit to wear them.
These belts were used throughout the 19th century in France until the 1845 regulations.
