Small Kiosk Box, Inlaid From Precious Woods, Louis XIV Period
Artist: Ateliers Parisiens
A very pretty octagonal box, made from solid wood and exotic wood veneer with a striking contrast of grain colors.
It rests on a plinth; the body fit a pierced brass hinge and a beautiful openwork hook.
Overhanging lid has a cyma molding and is crowned with a marquetry compass rose.
A superb and rare form, small in size yet impressive in appearance.
However, it has suffered some wear; old repairs of varying quality are visible (arrows in my photos).
I am selling this late 17th/early 18th-century item in its found condition.
