Cabinet Of Curiosities - Collection Of Fossilized Seashells In A Glass Case
A collection of fossil shells for use in a Cabinet of Curiosities, presented in small compartments, each identified by its Latin name on a label. The collection is displayed in a cardboard display case covered in paper simulating leather. The case opens to allow the shells to be admired with a magnifying glass. 20th-century work in the 19th-century style. Precursors to the Natural History Museum, Cabinets of Curiosities, from the 16th to the 18th centuries, were places where a multitude of rare or unusual objects representing the three kingdoms of nature (animal, vegetable, and mineral) were collected.
