- Solid silver pocket watch, chased and guillochéd with floral scrollwork decoration and a shield with the intertwined initials M&P. - French hallmark of 800/1000 fineness expressed in thousandths, used in France from 1834 to 1984, present on the head of the pendant, bail, case, dust cover and on the rim of the pocket watch case with the hallmark of the Besançon precious metals control office between the lower legs of the crab, number 219335 engraved in relief on the dust cover and case. - Goldsmith's hallmark in a lozenge shape present on the case with the letters N&B on either side of an oblique scale for the company Nappey et Bourgeois, manufacturer of watch cases with two manufacturing plants located in Charmanvillers and Damprichard in the department of Doubs (25). The company no longer exists; it ceased operations in 1937. The bezel and edge of the pocket watch are smooth, while the case is chased and guilloché. The dial is white enamel with black Roman numerals for the hours, red Arabic numerals for the 24 hours, and a railway track minute scale. The Louis XV style hands are made of copper-plated metal, and the crystal is slightly domed and beveled. The movement is made of gilt brass, signed Bayard in relief, and features a ruby cylinder escapement, blued steel screws, ratchet wheel, crown wheel, and polished steel regulator. Founded by Albert Villon in 1867, a flagship of French watchmaking, the Bayard brand was long considered a benchmark in the field. Indeed, French manufacturing of Bayard watches dates back to the third quarter of the 19th century. - Primarily known for its mechanical and electric alarm clocks, Bayard also began manufacturing pocket watches over the years. - Pocket watches were quickly appreciated for their classic look and mechanical operation. - The Bayard watch factory is located in Saint-Nicolas-d'Aliermont in the Seine-Maritime department (76). Today, the Bayard watch factory continues to thrive and remains a benchmark brand for quality watchmaking, specializing in alarm clocks and wall clocks. - Winding mechanism on the pendant and setting the time by pressing the small push button located at the top left next to the pendant head while simultaneously turning the winding crown clockwise. - Period: first quarter of the 20th century, circa 1916-1925. - Gross weight: 61.10 g. - In perfect working order, serviced by a watchmaker.
