- Solid silver pocket or fob watch from the Hausmann&Co brand. The Hausmann & Co watchmaking company is one of the most prestigious Italian watchmaking houses. It was founded in Rome in 1794 within the Ricci watchmaking factory. - In 1820, it opened its first historic office in Piazza Colonna. Ernst Hausmann, a German watchmaker, joined the company in 1870, then bought the Ricci company in 1881. The company temporarily moved to via Bocca di Leone, before settling permanently in via del Corso in 1890, where it is still located today. - The company took the name Hausmann & Co in 1895, when a talented engineer, also German, Hermann Frielingsdorf, joined Hausmann. Since the beginning of the 20th century, the company has collaborated with major Swiss watchmaking houses. - During the 20th century, it opened several boutiques in Naples and Genoa. At that time, it was the official distributor of Patek Philippe and Vacheron Constantin in Rome, and also produced watches under its own brand.- Watchmaker to the Italian Navy, it installed numerous precision chronometers on Italian Navy ships, capable of maintaining accurate time independently of external radio signals.- Since 2001, Benedetto Mauro and Francesco Hausmann have headed the Hausmann & Co. group.
