Secretary Desk, Love Letter Style, Easel-shaped, Napoleon III Era
A rare Napoleon III period secretary desk, originally designed as a painter's easel, opening to reveal a writing and document storage compartment. The structure is made of richly carved, black lacquered solid wood, adorned with finely chased silvered bronze mounts including spandrels, metal fittings, and a central medallion depicting a gallant scene and bearing an inscription 'after Antoine Watteau'. In good overall condition. Dimensions: 1.75 m high x 78.5 cm wide x 70-100 cm deep depending on the angle. The writing compartment measures 78.5 x 62 x 12 cm.
