Micromosaic Table Attributed To The Workshop Of Michelangelo Barberi - Italy - 19th Century
Artist: Michelangelo Barberi
A round table with an exceptionally finely executed micromosaic composition, crafted on Belgian black marble and mounted on a giltwood pedestal. The central panel depicts a rich bouquet of flowers and fruit—including roses, grapes, citrus fruits, and peaches—rendered with remarkable detail and subtle gradations of color. The border consists of geometric ornaments in green, blue, red, and gold. The quality and refinement of the mosaic, as well as the vibrant and harmonious composition, are characteristic of the workshop of Michelangelo Barberi (1787–1867), one of the most renowned masters of 19th-century Roman micromosaic art. Such works were often created for Grand Tour travelers as prestigious souvenirs of Italy.
