Stoneware baluster-shaped mug with a reddish-brown glaze and a relief decoration of oblique ribs highlighted by a frieze of small cabochons. The pewter lid with a spherical thumb rest is dated 1786 and bears the hallmark of a pewterer from Breslau (now Wroclaw in Poland): star / CGS and the town hallmark with a W.
Height: 24 cm.
Wroclaw (Region of) (Poland), Second half of the 18th century.

Very good condition.
Pottery manufacturers entrusted the production of the rims and lids to pewterers, generally local, who often stamped them with their hallmark. This can help confirm the location and date of the potter's activity.
