"Marquetry Cigar Humidor, Napoleon III Period – Mid-19th Century"
A Napoleon III period cigar humidor, crafted from rosewood and palisander marquetry, featuring a flowing, flowing shape characteristic of the mid-19th century. The top of the case displays chevron marquetry surrounding a monogrammed plaque at its center. The entire piece is enhanced with brass and copper inlays depicting delicate florets. Brass fillets and moldings accentuate the edges of the case, adding a refined touch to the decoration. The interior contains five removable trays designed for storing and displaying cigars, and the front lock comes with a working key to ensure secure closure. The trays are removable for easy organization and access to the contents. This piece is in the Second Empire style and exemplifies the skill of 19th-century marquetry craftsmen through the harmonious combination of contrasting woods and metal ornaments. This cigar humidor will delight collectors, both for its quality marquetry and its inlays, and will find its place as a display and storage case or as an ornamental piece in a characterful interior. ********Period: Mid-19th century.
