16th-century German Two-handed Longsword

German Two Handed Longsword 16th Century.

This beautiful example of late medieval period long sword is a transitional sword bridging the gap between the evolution / form of the crucifix style swords of the medieval period and the two handed and hand and a half swords of the renaissance.

This German Sword is Circa 1530.

The sword which is in excellent condition is very light, maneuverable and robust.

The hilt is comprised of a crucifix from with twisted guard and twisted pommel . The handle is wood with leather wrapping which is likely been replaced over its long life. The guard itself displays some light play which is quiet light.

The blade is a long double edged blade with single fuller, the blade condition is good having signs of age in the form of oxidation and some contact areas and some light de-lamination on the blade.

Beautiful overall condition for a well balanced museum quality piece.
