Elegant cameo in grey Vesuvian lava portraying the profile of the famous Athenian strategist Pericles, easily recognisable by the distinctive raised Corinthian helmet—symbol of the military and civic power of ancient Athens. The figure, rendered with striking expressive strength, is finely carved in a neoclassical style inspired by the classical heroic ideal, perfectly aligned with the aesthetic culture of the Grand Tour.

The cameo is mounted on a base of genuine antique red porphyry, a precious material of imperial origin, and framed in a giltwood frame.
