large and elegant pair of Sèvres porcelain centerpieces from the second half of the 19th century, in a typical French blue color. The flared oval shape is mounted on a gilt-bronze ormolu structure with a fruit-bearing vine band at the top edge flanked by matching vertical volute handles. The base rests on four volute feet with lion masks and suspended floral festoons. The oval-shaped porcelain in blue is painted in the center within a gilded cartouche on a white background, depicting a natural landscape with exotic birds in the foreground. The back, also within a gilded cartouche, is painted with a floral bouquet motif in bright, vibrant colors.
