Flintlock pistol, Model 1789, 2nd type. 18th-century French Navy. Round barrel, 19 cm long; 21.9 cm including the breech tang, marked on its left flat "86" for 1786, the date of manufacture. Caliber 17.1 cm. 1777 pattern lock with inclined brass pan. Small, spoon-shaped brass side plate. The frizzen is engraved in cursive script. Made in the Royal Manufactory of Tulle and stamped with a "C" under a crown indicating the inspector Jean Pierre COMPAS. Brass furniture and iron trigger guard stamped with a crowned "C" for COMPAS. Inspector in Tulle from 1779 to 1792. Walnut stock. Belt hook and iron ramrod with a nail head, matching the pattern. Weapon length 34 cm.
