"Pair Of Louis XVI Style Vases In Porcelain And Gilt Bronze, Napoleon III Period, 19th Century"
Pair of Louis XVI style vases in blue porcelain with gilt bronze mounts, Napoleon III period, 19th century. The tripod bases, in the Athenian style, are made of finely chased gilt bronze, featuring faun masks linked by vine garlands at the top, terminating in foliate deer hooves. The vases rest on a molded onyx base, adorned with acanthus leaves in the center and highlighted by a frieze of gilt bronze beads. The original mercury gilding with a double patina is in very good condition, cleaned by our workshop (a few old pits are noted on the porcelain). A fine piece from the Napoleon III period, evident in both the delicacy of the chasing and the quality of the gilding.
