Pair Of Gilded Bronze Candleholder Cassolettes, Charles X Period, 19th Century

A pair of candlesticks in the form of small bowls, made of gilded, chiseled bronze with a double patina, dating from the Charles X period in the 19th century. Each cassolette consists of a Medici vase with a double guilloché patina, encircled by a finely chiseled frieze of fleurs-de-lis, mounted on a pedestal. The handles are adorned with palmettes. The two-part lid features a removable openwork gilded bronze section; the upper part is encircled by a beaded frieze, chiseled with a grid pattern, and topped with a pine cone. When the ring and lid are inverted, the cassolette transforms into a candlestick. Each cassolette rests on a column with a double patina on a matte background, decorated with finely chiseled winged putti holding a bunch of grapes.  Square gilt bronze base with original double-patina mercury gilding in very good condition, cleaned by our workshop.
