Mannecy Porcelain Snuffbox, Paris 1750-1756
A delightful and rare Mannecy porcelain snuffbox, modeled in the characteristic shape of a small, curved chest of drawers.
The silver mount, highlighted with moldings and fretwork, bears the Paris hallmarks in use between 1750 and 1756. All sides are decorated with graceful polychrome bouquets of flowers painted on a white background with a relief chevron pattern, also repeated on the inside of the lid. The front side features an ingenious painted decoration imitating the three drawers of the chest of drawers, accentuating the refined trompe-l'oeil of the modeling.
A fine example of the refinement and fantasy of the French Mannecy factory in the 18th century.
Dimensions: 7.7 × 5.1 × h. 4.5 cm
