"Snuffbox In Tortoiseshell And Silver XVIII S"
Lovely snuffbox made up of 6 tortoiseshell plates riveted on an engraved silver frame. The front and back plates are decorated with a very fine inlaid silver mesh, decorated with foliage framing a winged cupid playing the olifant, the all flanked by two winged eagles. The lid is also decorated with a very fine inlaid silver mesh, decorated with a hunter shooting a deer in a plant environment of a castle park. Tiny little flaws. French work from the mid-18th century, small unidentified discharge hallmarks.
