Object description :

"Victorian Rose Cut Diamond Swallow Arrow Brooch In Silver And Yellow Gold"
Brooch representing a slender and finely cut arrow, on which is gracefully placed a swallow, equally finely crafted: the bird's plumage is rendered by delicate hoops, each adorned in its center with a rose-cut diamond. The swallow's eye is represented by a red ruby-type cabochon stone. The posture of the bird, barely posed, gives life to this brooch and suggests a dynamic movement that the arrow amplifies. The three elements subject to movement meet the same criteria: all three in silver, and adorned with diamonds. The fletching of the arrow is a counterpart to the swallow's feathers, as is the tip of the arrow to the bird's beak. The swallow seems to have landed on the arrow to become one in their journey through time and space. This jewel fully corresponds to the codes of Victorian jewelry, with its highly symbolic meaning, and within which the message takes precedence over simple aesthetics. Optimistic in scope, we find the notions of movement, freedom of spirit (symbolized by the arrow), fruitful life path, hope in life despite the vagaries of fate, successful journey leading to a safe return home, symbolized by the swallow. Sailors, great travelers, were particularly attached to these jewels highly charged with symbols. Dating from the 19th century, the base of the brooch is made of 750/°° yellow gold (18 KT, eagle's head hallmark) while the upper part set with diamonds is in silver and vermeil, which gives this jewel a very soft, subtle overall color and gives it a beautiful relief. The system of the brooch is secure by a sliding latch on the pin.Gross weight: 7.51 gCondition: as an antique jewel, this brooch is adorned with rose-cut diamonds with irregular shapes and contours, which is completely normal. A diamond is missing from the edge of the lower wing, which is invisible when worn.Imperceptible micro-scratches on the gold and silver parts, natural inclusions in the diamonds not visible to the naked eyePossibility of payment entirely remotely via the site.We remain at your disposal for any information concerning another method of payment. Are you a professional?
