Queillé: Pair Of Engraved Glass Or Crystal And Openwork Solid Silver Alcohol Decanters. Early 19th Century

Artist: Pierre-françois Queillé Ii
Charming pair of glass and solid silver decanters dating from the reign of Louis Philippe.

The ovoid body of the decanters is engraved with fruit-bearing branches, forming a frieze.

The silver mounts are very opaque. They are beautifully openworked with a trellis design supporting flowers.
The openwork is extremely delicate.

The neck mounts are mounted with a pin system, a sign of the quality of the silversmith's work.

The glass stoppers are also covered with an openwork mount that echoes the design of the decanter body.

Each decanter is hallmarked:
. Minerva 1st grade from before 1973 for 950/°° silver.

Goldsmith's mark: PQ with a double oar in the antique style for Pierre-François Queillé II, active from 1834 to 1846.

Examination of the hallmarks allows us to date these decanters between 1838 and 1846, during the reign of King Louis-Philippe.

Magnificent pair of decanters with a particularly remarkable openwork frame that brings charm and lightness to these objects.

19 cm high
8 cm maximum diameter

Capacity: approximately 35 cl

977 grams gross for the pair.

Very good condition. Minor scratches from use. One of the stoppers is probably not original because the frame, with a few minor defects, is a little large and shows traces of glue. However, it fits perfectly to the neck of its decanter.
