These are several views of the head of the 5-year-old Lady Frances Isabella Keir Gordon (1782-1831), who posed for Reynolds in July and August 1786, and again in March 1787, the year of his exhibition. She was the only daughter of Lord William Gordon and his wife Frances Ingram (1761-1841), whose painting was bequeathed to the National Gallery upon his death in 1841.
