Sewing And Embroidery Kit, Palais Royal, Paris, Circa 1820

Sewing and embroidery kit. Silk and velvet interior. It is complete with its seven mother-of-pearl elements: A pair of scissors, a thimble, a needle case, a sewing awl, a lace needle, and two bobbins. The sewing awl, thimble, scissors, and needle case bear the enameled symbol of the Palais Royal shops. The scissors are particularly finely carved with dog profiles. The box is made of precious Amboyna burl wood. It is adorned with a studded and inlaid mother-of-pearl decoration. Its key is present and works. Its four small metal feet are also present. The box measures 7,28 inches long, 3,15 inches deep, and 1,96 inches high. It is rare to find a complete box in such good condition! France, Paris, circa 1820.
