"Philippe Rochette-castel (1941-2023) Ceramic Sculpture Depicting A Rider On His Mount"
Philippe Rochette-Castel (1941-2023), a delightful glazed ceramic sculpture in shades of red depicting a rider on his mount. A student at the École des Beaux-Arts in Paris, Philippe Rochette-Castel, painter and sculptor, produced works during the second half of the 20th century and the beginning of the 21st century. He was repeatedly chosen for state commissions. This beautiful work from the 1970s/1980s reflects his talent. Philippe Rochette-Castel's very personal style infuses this ensemble with a homogeneity and movement that brings the two beings to life. The total mastery of his art allows the artist to touchingly caricature the rider and the horse in a style similar to Honoré Daumier, with added purity and modernity. Signature of the artist in the hollow monogram on the horse's left hind leg. Dimensions: Height 18 x Length 24 (cm).
