Stamp “GH/Rue Thirioux/à Paris” on the reverse.
The Rue Thirioux factory was founded in the 1770s by André Marie Leboeuf in the then rapidly developing Chaussée d'Antin district. His work was noticed by Queen Marie-Antoinette, who decided to grant him her protection and commission several pieces for her Petit Trianon estate. He developed a production with a very flowery style, in keeping with the Queen's tastes. In 1794, Leboeuf sold his factory to Guy, who went into partnership with Housel. They chose to mark their creations with their respective initials accompanied by the mention of Rue Thirioux. The factory remained active until 1816.
