"Caricature Of A Polo Player - Charles De Condamy (1847–1913), 19th Century"
A pupil of Barrias and a key figure in the 19th-century animal scene, Charles de Condamy distinguished himself by the precision of his lines and the finesse of his compositions. He exhibited regularly at the Salon between 1878 and 1882, captivating a European aristocratic clientele. His work, often reproduced in magazines such as Le Soleil du Dimanche, is distinguished by a great mastery of movement and caricature, as evidenced by this lively gouache depicting a polo player in action. This humorous work, rare in its theme, also reflects the sporting and aristocratic spirit of the time.

This gouache is signed lower right.
