Oil on canvas signed lower right Edmond Chauvet, depicting a riverside landscape with large majestic trees in the foreground. Dimensions with frame: 94x78cm. Dimensions on view: 78x63.5cm. Edmond Eugène Ernest Chauvet was born in Reims on January 29, 1903 and died on December 20, 1968. He was a French painter and illustrator. A student of François Flameng and Lucien Simon, he exhibited the painting Retour de chasse at the Salon des artistes français in 1929. He is buried in the West Cemetery of Reims with his father, the decorative painter Prosper Georges Chauvet (1874-1931). A street in Reims bears his name.
