Watercolors Of Agen's Old Town
A pair of watercolors on paper depicting two scenes in Agen, a town in southwestern France located in the Lot-et-Garonne department. The works are labeled with their locations and signed; the frames are in perfect condition.
The first watercolor depicts the king’s stables, located in the area of Rue Louis-Vivent (or Rue Vivens) in the historic center of Agen. Under the Ancien Régime, these royal stables were part of the king’s administrative and military complex in the province, requiring regular maintenance costs to house soldiers, horses, and the associated riding arena.
The second watercolor depicts Rue Marc Tancogne, located in the heart of Agen’s old town, not far from the city’s iconic boulevards and pedestrian zones.
