JAPAN - Meiji period (1868 - 1912). Musha Ningyô doll representing a high-ranking noble samurai, he is dressed in articulated, lacquered armor, highlighted with stamped copper elements and a silk brocade garment, the head in finely lacquered and painted wood, the eyes in glass, very expressive. He carries in his right hand a gunbai (command fan) lacquered black and decorated with constellations. He is armed with a katana and a wakisashi whose handle is covered in shagreen. Slight wear.
