"Japanese Bronze Vase By Ishikawa (mitsuaki) Komei (1852-1913) - Chrysanthemums"
Ishikawa (MITSUAKI) KOMEI 石川光明, (1852–1913) was a renowned Meiji-era artist best known for his ivory carvings, but he also worked in a wide range of media, including bronze, plaster, and paint. Originally trained as a Kano school painter, he taught at the Tokyo School of Fine Arts, where a bust in his honor now stands. When the Imperial Artist system was established in 1891, Komei was one of the first to receive this honorary title. His bronze works are considered very rare.
