CIMARRE in pewter, baluster shape with high pedestal, quarter-round throat, acorn lid and polylobed swinging handle with attachments decorated with human masks with collars.
Control hallmark: crowned C / 1756 / (MON)TIERANDE(R).
Height: 25.7 cm.
MONTIER-EN-DER, Second half of the 18th century.
These pewter vessels were intended for serving wine at receptions. They have partly preserved their medieval typology in the 17th and 18th centuries.
Very good condition of conservation, a consolidation of the handle attachments, invisible on the outside, is however reported. Bibliography:
