BLADE : It is a 2-edged blade, of hexagonal section. On the first two-thirds of the blade, there are two deep grooves on each side, which on the front side are slightly irregular.
Blade length = 36.3 cm, width near the guard = 6 cm, thickness near the guard = 7.5 mm
GUARD : It has 2 flat quillons curved towards the blade. These quillons are oriented at an angle to the plane of the blade, which corresponds to the combat techniques of the time.
POMMEL : It has the shape of a disc from which a central part emerges to form a smaller disc. This shape is typical of sword pommels of the 13th-14th centuries, and continued to be used in Italy until the years 1500-1520. The tang of the blade is riveted to the pommel in a very particular way, in the shape of a truncated pyramid. This type of riveting is typical of the 15th century, and required great mastery of hammering.
GRIP : it has disappeared over time, one can imagine that it was of a shape which took up that of the tang of the blade.
This weapon is oxidized, but presents a good thickness and a polishing is perfectly possible if one considers a restoration. The weapon is massive and quite heavy (920 g) but well balanced. It is obvious that it was designed for combat
