clock called "capucine" or officer of very careful manufacture.
The cabinet is in brass with 3 doors making the movement visible. Locking of the rear door with stop. Surmounted by 4 coils it rests on 4 feet in the shape of a top. The carrying handle surmounts the bronze gong.

Dial: it is in white enamel and is encircled by a chiseled bezel. Hands: they are in blued steel called "bréguet hands" for the hours and minutes and arrow-shaped for the alarm.

Movement: the movement is with two plates with the cadrature (striking mechanism) on the rear plate. The escapement is with recoil lever and the suspension is wire. Striking of the hour and half-hours as it passes with a reminder of the hour at two minutes, repetition of the strike on demand by lever through an opening in the side door. (The lever is provided with a hole to receive a cord to also activate the repeater by pull). The suspension is fixed on the upper plate with a key adjustment of the advance delay with indication of the setting by hand. The alarm clock is pull, its time setting by the alarm hand.

Dimensions: Height 30 cm, width, 12 cm, depth, 8 cm

Period: circa 1815

The capucine clock was particularly produced in Franche Comté. The production of capucines began around 1780 and disappeared around 1840. However, we exceptionally find earlier clocks of a similar shape defined as "pre-capucine".
