Gilt And Patinated Bronze Chandelier With 9 Lights From The Restoration Period
A Restoration period nine-light gilt and patinated bronze chandelier in the form of an antique lamp. The chandelier retains its original mercury gilding and green patina in excellent condition. The quality of the chasing and the very thick gilding testify to the care taken in its manufacture. It features palmette decoration, a rosette with floral motifs (perhaps wild rose?), heart-shaped motifs, acanthus leaves, pine cones, gadroons, and more. The contrast between the matte and glossy gilding highlights the relief of the chasing. Nine-light chandelier. Height 90 cm, Diameter 58 cm. Circa 1825. An elegant chandelier with very beautiful proportions. Excellent condition with no wear to the gilding or patina. It has been drilled for electricity at the bottom of the candle holders (not visible); the cables pass through the arms of the lights.
