Dehua Blanc De Chine Huntress (female Archer), C.1890
White Dehua blanc de Chine figure of a female archer
on a rocky base. Broad-brim hat, light cloak, applied pendants; bow in hand,
quiver behind, sword at the side. Female reading from the modelling and
proportions. Dehua workshops, late Qing/early Republic. Base underside largely
closed with a small vent; no marks. The sword is a customary accessory on Dehua
“warrior” types, not literal hunting gear.
Sound late Qing/early Republic example, desirable for blanc de Chine and
“women warriors” sub-collections.
