Ohannes Alhazian : "the Red Roof"

Ohannès Alhazian (1881-1958): "The Red Roof", oil on canvas 38 X 46 cm, mounted in a beautiful gilded Regency frame 51 X 57 cm.
The artist, Armenian born in present-day Turkey in Van, spent most of his career in France where he was a member of the Nationale de Beaux-Arts and a regular exhibitor at its Salon with works often taken from his travels in Spain, but especially from Provence.
His great sensitivity to the rendering of light earned him numerous prizes and his presence in several museums.
Our painting is a perfect example with this orchard with yellow trees under the sun standing out behind the house with the red roof plunged into a nuanced shadow.
