Skeleton dagger from the 16th century, marking called left hand, engraved with the name "BD-MONTLUC" Marshal of France in 1574 Lieutenant of Guyenne, LASSERAN de MASSENCOMME de MONTLUC family. Born in 1502, in Saint Puy (Gascony), died on July 26, 1577 in Estillac (Gascony). Served under five Kings of France: FRANCOIS 1er - HENRI II - FRANCOIS II - CHARLES IX - HENRI III - and participated in the Italian Wars and the Wars of Religion: see his biography on Wikipedia. Filigree iron fuse, round conical pommel with riveting button. Iron skeleton guard, flat double-edged blade with central fuller and 7 cm ricasso. Blade and ricasso engraved two-thirds on one side and bearing in a cartouche between two crosses, the initials "PH" (pseudonym according to the period, early 16th to end of the 16th century for HENRIQUE COEL when he worked for the Court of Spain: reference J.SACH, les armes blanches, Prague 1999).
